IT Volunteers

IT Volunteers’ Service, launched within ICTP project in May, 2005, provides support to ICT development in Uzbekistan.

The goal of IT Volunteers' Service is to assist NGOs, social funds, government institutions, educational sector and others, activities of which directly affects social development, to fully explore the potential of information technologies.

IT services are provided by volunteers’ own initiative and are not charged for. During these services, volunteers possess knowledge and skills in ICT, able to create programs in different programming languages, provide trainings on computer basics, maintain network administration, create databases, and develop websites.

Main goals

  1. Main goals of UNDP/ICTP volunteers in Uzbekistan are: support resources of local organizations on their capacity building of ICT through local volunteers assistance
  2. provide opportunities for youth to participate in volunteering and facilitate their self-confirmation
  3. promote local volunteerism and advocate key policy makers

Main tasks

  • Creation of mechanism for ICT support in organizations
  • Opportunities for youth to take part in volunteer’s activity, realize own potential and be useful
  • Opportunities for local organizations to get easy access to the service provided by IT volunteers in Uzbekistan
  • An addendum for the organization. Creation of new type of volunteers.
  • Help to decline gender
  • Inequality in ICT using environment through attracting female volunteers and training woman teachers

IT Volunteers' Service has established a network of its clients and is open to consider requests from new organizations.
