December 5th is marked in the calendar of the world community as the International Day of Volunteers. On this day twenty-five qualified IT-Volunteer of ICTP Project of the UN Development Program have received special certificates and prizes for their contribution to the development of ICT in Uzbekistan.
On November 26th 2008 the semi-final round has been held in Tashkent on International collegiate programming contest of the Central Asia republics (ACM–ICPC) in Middle Asia sub-region of North-Eastern European region. More than 45 teams from Central Asian institutes of higher education have been engaged in competition for the right to participate on the final round.
November 18-19, a training course “Application of ICT in the public administration” will take place in the Engineering and technical Center «Uzbektelecom» of Tashkent city. It is organized by Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information and UNDP «Assisting the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the formulation and implementation of ICT policy for development of Uzbekistan»(ICTP) Project.
A press-conference was held today, aimed at presenting benefits and advantages of the UzCDL system – national certification of digital literacy, to the potential users and other stakeholders of the certification testing service.
During September 28 – October 4, 2008, UNDP ICTP project organized a
study tour for government officials on e-government and government
portal development experience in Switzerland as part of a continued
commitment to the promotion and implementation of e-government in
Uzbekistan.
On 25 September, 2008 in the International Business Center was held a round table of major Internet service providers operating in Uzbekistan. Organized in the framework of ICT Week that was passing these days, this meeting was devoted to the current state of Internet services in the republic as well as further development prospects in this field.
On 24th of September 2008 within the framework of Information-Communication Technologies Week the Annual National Exhibition of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) ICTExpo-2008 has been opened in NEC "Uzexpocentre" in Tashkent as well as in Youth Center located in Andijan city.
Today, on September 23rd, the National Summit on Information and Communication Technologies, one of the key events of ICT week INFOCOM 2008, started its work in Tashkent.
National Summit on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) – ICT Summit 2008 – one of the most striking events of ICT Week – InfoCom 2008 will be held on September 23 and 26 at the International Business Center in Tashkent. It is important to note that ICT Week – InfoCom 2008 is held in Tashkent annually in autumn and is considered as to be one of the most interesting events in the ICT sphere of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan National Programmers Forum will be held at the Communications History Museum on 18 May 2010 and Annual National Software Exhibition BestSoft – Uzbekistan 2010 will take place on 19-20 May at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies.
