The UNDP “ICT Policy”(ICTP) Project held the award ceremony for the winners of TV quiz which took place during 2009 within the framework of “Taraqqiyot sari” (Towards the development) TV show.

At the beginning of the year, within the bounds of the TV quiz there were announced 3 prize-winning places for potential winners. During the year, the organizers of the show have received a huge amount of letters from such regions as Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara, Sirdaryo, Fergana, Tashkent region and Tashkent city. There should be mentioned such active TV-viewers as Beknazar Abdikamilov, Anabibi Nazarova, Sukhrob Abdurasulov, Farkhod Rahimov, Rakhmatjon Madarakhimov, Akmal Abdurakhmonov, Munis Abdujabbarova, Shoolim Shomansurov, Dilbar Abdugaffarova and others.

The quiz answers were various: while some participants sent quite detailed replies others gave certain information in short. The organizers, having examined all the letters sent by post or e-mail, summed up the results of the TV quiz.

Here are the winners of the TV quiz 2009:

1st Place: Sukhrob Abdurasulov (Khorezm), rewarded with Canon PowerShot A480 Digital camera

2nd Place: Anabibi Nazarova (Khorezm), rewarded with DVD player

3rd Place: Farkhod Rakhimov (Khorezm), rewarded with Nokia 2680 Mobile phone

Also, the jury, consisting of competent IT specialists, additionally instituted 3 honorable mention prizes for the most active participants of the quiz. Dilbar Abdugaffarova from Tashkent, a student of Medical College,became the winner in the nomination “The Youngest participant (girl) of the show” receiving 8GB USB Flash Drive. Bekhazar Abdikamilov residing in Turtkul district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan became the winner in the nomination “The participant from the most distant region of the country” , receiving acoustic system for PC. Munis Abdujabbarova, living in Tashkent, became the winner in the nomination “The most active participant (girl)” receiving a web-camera.

The winners expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the show “Tarakkiet Sari” (Towards the development), on the creation of which the UNDP “ICT Policy” project’s specialists and journalists of National Broadcasting Company have been working together.

Farkhod Rahimov, the winner from Khorezm has shared that this is his first time participating in the TV quiz and he is particularly happy to be granted a winning place:” In every round of TV quiz the questions announced were concerned with the main topic of the show issue, and therefore it helped me to find correct answers. All topics of the show were interesting, but 3D technology topic was most interesting to me, and I discovered quite a lot for myself”. Munis Abdujabarrova, residing in Tashkent, pointed out that while searching for answers she used Internet widely, but also looked through different magazines related to Information Technologies.

Last but not least, it is remarkable to mention that participants engaged in the TV quiz relate to different age groups of TV-viewers from all regions of Uzbekistan, an active part also was played by students of vocational and high educational institutions. Would be important to add, that TV viewers were showing interest in the news, and specifically in those reports of TV show, in which last trends, and relevant topics related to information and communication technologies were discussed. During TV show broadcast, the viewers were able not only to add additional information to their knowledge in ICT field, but also expressed their own wishes toward the show, which helped to make it more interesting.
